['dɑːns 'θɪətə ɔv 'hɑːləm], nach dem Mord an M. Luther King von dem ehemaligen Solisten des New York City Ballet, Arthur Mitchell, als klassische Tanzkompanie für Afroamerikaner gegründet. Das Repertoire der Truppe, die 1971 in Spoleto ihr Europadebüt gab und seither in aller Welt Erfolge feiert, umfasst neben Werken wie »Agon« und »Bugaku« von G. Balanchine typisch »schwarze« Ballette von T. Beatty, G. Holder, W. Scott und von A. Mitchell selbst.
